Guest service fee

Guest service fee · definition
  • A guest service fee is charged by the platform to the traveller on top of your rate. Airbnb largely retired it in late 2025 in favour of a host-only fee; some platforms and booking types still carry one.

Why hosts should still care

Guests compare TOTAL price. Where a guest fee exists, your €100 night costs the guest €114 — you compete at the checkout total, not your sticker rate.

After Airbnb's change

With fees shifted to hosts, displayed prices dropped but host payouts absorb the cost — most hosts raised nightly rates a corresponding step to keep net income level.
